DAY 15

TEACHING IS THE GREATEST ACT  OF OPTIMISM My very humble and beautiful CT, ma'am Kharen Joy Quimpan, a Grade 11 GAS strand adviser "Give the students something to do, not something to learn; and the doing is of a nature as to demand thinking; learning naturally results."  - John Dewey                             Ms. Kharen Joy an Oral Communication teacher wrote her lesson on the board while letting her students copy it. Afterward, she then picked students to explain the chosen topic about the communicative strategy and told the students to avoid code-switching as much as possible.  When the students were asked to explain a concept using their own ideas and refrain from using colloquial language, I observed that the resource teacher was encouraging higher-order thinking skills when putting advanced cognitive demands on  students. Higher-order thinking is thought to be more useful b...

DAY 14

Image
GET 1/2 CROSSWISE! We are tasks to check their attendance, and I observe that there are only few males in this section.       Only the two subjects with two hours of class each session are cycled throughout the entire morning. After the values teacher finished his lesson, my CT entered the room and delivered the books and exam pointers to the students. We did not discuss the topic, but we wrote it based on what the teacher instructed us.     Teacher Gato gives the handouts to copy it on the board for the students. She instructed us that after the students copied all what was written on the board, we will be the one who will give a quiz to the students.  Teacher Ermelou, an Entrep. teacher provides us the handouts for the students to copy it on the board. She told us that we would be the one to give the students a quiz once they had copied all that was printed on the board.

DAY 13 (AFTERNOON)

AFTERNOON OBSERVATION. Laughing each other's joke while waiting for the clock to tick at one!                                               The students are rehearsing their role play because their teacher had a meeting at 2pm.                                                     Teaching and learning are reciprocal processes.         Since there is no class from 2:00 to 5pm, we still have to stay at the school. Our CT give us something to do. She let us check the assignment notebooks of Grade 12 regarding with the sentence's grammar. We observed that most of the students were having difficulties in constructing sentences and many of them don't know how to spell the correct words.  As a result, before...

DAY 12 (M0RNING)

Image
BSED & BTLED FS1 TEAM BONGABONG! KUDOS KNPians!         Wednesday's first period and scheduled subject is Introduction to World Religion. A four-hour class for the entire morning. The class begins with greetings, followed by prayer and attendance. The topic is all about God's ten commandments, and I notice that the students are very attentive and responsive to it. The teacher is telling stories about how to become a good person by following God's words. The topic is very interesting because it is related to real life, and it piqued our interest. I observed that you should relate the subject to a real-world scenario in order to increase class attention.

DAY 11

Image
ANOTHER DAY OF CLASS OBSERVATION             When class started, I jotted down my observations in my notebook and filled in everything that had to do with our target and goal of being capable of choosing a learning environment at school that is conducive to social, psychological, and physical well-b eing.  On my second day in the Grade 11 classroom, I noticed that the teacher took a spelling test right away after checking the student's attendance. The teacher stated that she does spelling before beginning her topic because many students still do not know the correct spellings of words, which is due to the fact that the class was only modular when there was a pandemic, and it is said that there are students who did not learn much because they were only holding gadgets instead of reading and studying their lessons.

DAY 10

Image
BONGABONG FS TEAM, MEETS HONORABLE MAYOR Since it's a new week, we'll observe in a different classroom once more. Following the flag ceremony, we approached Ma'am Arcenas and inquired as to which classroom we would be observing.             The third week of our FS1 has us here at Grade 11 GAS to observe. We approached the adviser that we would like to observe in her classroom for a week, and she nodded and smiled. We were led inside and seated in the back. As we introduced ourselves to the students, she told them that we were from Koliheyo Ng Pantukan and had come to observe them.  The first subject was not done with its 1-hour period due to the program held in Bongabong gym for its 24th Araw ng Bongabong 18th Kanaton Festival. And all teachers and students were supposed to be there on the program.  24th Araw ng Bongabong 18th Kanaton Festival @Bongabong gym. Community extension

DAY 9

Image
It's Friday and Our 9th Day of FS1         Finally, we are on the ninth day of our FS1 and are about to finish 15 days of 60 hours per FS. We arrived at school at 7:10 a.m. I immediately proceed to my respective section after receiving my DTR and signing the attendance sheet provided by our little principal. Our students were cleaning up in their area. After completing their daily routine, they immediately proceed to their classroom for a first period class led by their math teacher and took two hours class to review their lesson because many of the students are still confused about factoring, despite the teacher's repeated instruction. I have observed that some of the students are really struggling the math subject. There was also a time when the student asked for our assistance because they said they don't know how to solve the problem. "Sorry students, I'm also struggling that x & y letters." I advised them to take note of every detail and sp...

DAY 8

Image
WHAT A SHOCKING THURSDAY!          We take our motorcycle for a 25-minute commute to school from home. We arrived on time even though we were far from the school we were supposed to observe. I get my DTR sign and head straight to my designated section. A Values teacher from Pantukan Municipal, Ms. Stephanie taking the first period of the class.      Second period is Math subject. Before checking the attendance, the teacher greets everyone. I observe that the lesson is based on a previous topic because many of the students are still struggling with it. After reviewing each concept in turn and presenting some examples, the teacher asks the students to answer the given factors. Some students got the correct answer, while others did not.

DAY 7

Image
"If there was one thing you could change about this school, what would it be?" A CAMPAIGN DAY, WIN S DAY! SSG OFFICER ASPIRANTS      During first period, a group of students from different sections came to our classroom and ask the students of the section to vote them for the upcoming SSG Elections. They come inside of the classroom and introduce their selves if what they are running to. I was surprised because some of them came from section where I have observed for the first week. The willingness and leaderships of these students are really amazing, so impressive. Past 10:00 o'clock in the morning, all students from different level went to the school gym for the  Meeting de Avance of the said running council.  Meeting de Avance of SSG, Good Luck My Grade 10 Discipline! πŸ‘ŠπŸ’™ My Research Team After the 4 hours of duty, we are planning to have our meeting regarding our concept paper in action research.             ...

DAY 6

OMG! BUBBLY!        We arrived in BNHS at 7:00 o'clock in the morning. As expected, our co-FS students are waiting for us because of their DTR that our little principal have held. Section Bubbly as usual was in their respective area, cleaning the assigned field. Since they don't have adviser yet, the students are waiting for their next subject while doing some stuff. Grade 8 Bubbly's area to be clean every day before the classes start in the morning. Commotion happened during recess time. One of the students who causes fight called a back up  from the other section which is his friends.   Two boys in our section almost got into a fight. Good thing the teacher of their second subject came right away.       The teacher immediately settled the two students before they became complicated. I've observed that it can be difficult to handle situations like this, especially with high school students, because there are students who do not...

DAY 5

Image
HELLO, BUBBLY! First day duty of second week and was assigned to Grade 8 Section Bubbly.                 This is the 5th day of our FS1 and our first day here in Grade 8 section Bubbly. Ma'am Arcenas assigned two cooperating students in this section because this classroom has no adviser yet. And this section is known as the most chaotic and reckless section because of their behavior and consistently deviate from the guidelines.        Grade 8- Bubbly are cleaning their respective area even though they don't have yet their class adviser, still they are very responsible. We also didn't leave them until they are done cleaning and we also manage to talk to these students that we are their new Ate and Kuya that will observe them for the whole morning period. Most of them are 13 and 14 years old and they are still a baby that need a guidance all the time.        This is their second period, Math subject. The...

DAY 4

"The fact that you are concerned about being a good teacher indicates that you already are." Student 1: "Ikaw lang ingon ba kay maulaw ko."(while nilingi sakoa) Student 2: "Sige na ba, ingna." Me: Oh, ngano man diay? Students: " Magpicture ta ma'am 😁 I felt happy when they approach me to take a picture with them.   I really didn't expect that it would be my last day with them. Since it was just Thursday, and they were aware that I would be with them for the entire week to observe. See you around Grade 10 Discipline! This part is actually what I miss, the type that always makes me, laugh during oral recitations with their corny jokes and amusing responses. Since their adviser claimed that their section contained a number of honor students, their teacher anticipated that they would be extremely smart young and creative learners. This is their last period in the morning, English subject. There is no teacher attending during this time and the...

DAY 3

"Learning isn't only about finding the right answer, but also creating the road that leads us to the answer." Always be up to date While waiting for the first Period teacher. πŸ’™ Yes, that is the arrangement of their chairs. It has divided into three groups to have space in the middle.                           Wednesday, Day 3 of our Field Study 1 in Bongabong National High School.  I arrived at 6:50 a.m. and went to my assigned classroom after signing in our daily logbook. Some students are walking down the hallway, while others are sitting and chatting with their classmates. This day only has three subjects: science, Filipino, and English, because the Math teacher is only available on Thursdays.

DAY 1

Image
"It is never too late to be what you might have been." —George Eliot        Field Study 1 involves observing students, the school structure, and the community. Because this is my first exposure to a school environment, I must take note of the school and classroom facilities, as well as the organizational structure of the school. I will observe the learners' behavior in the actual learning environment and develop my understanding of feasible approaches to facilitating learning while taking into account the various stages of growth and development. SO, SHALL I START? πŸ‘§
