Afterward, she then picked students to explain the chosen topic about the communicative strategy and told the students to avoid code-switching as much as possible. When the students were asked to explain a concept using their own ideas and refrain from using colloquial language, I observed that the resource teacher was encouraging higher-order thinking skills when putting advanced cognitive demands on students.
