DAY 1

"It is never too late to be what you might have been."

—George Eliot

Field Study 1 involves observing students, the school structure, and the community. Because this is my first exposure to a school environment, I must take note of the school and classroom facilities, as well as the organizational structure of the school. I will observe the learners' behavior in the actual learning environment and develop my understanding of feasible approaches to facilitating learning while taking into account the various stages of growth and development.

SO, SHALL I START? 👧

Exciting but a little bit scary. My first day of Field Study 1 at Bongabong National High School (BNHS). I arrived at school at 6:40 a.m. with my classmate, our little principal because we were riding together on our motorcycle, and I was her back rider.

We attend the school's flag ceremony before meeting the acting principal. Afterward, we proceeded to speak with ma'am Raynilda Arcenas, the school's Acting Principal, who informed us that we do not yet have an assigned classroom, but we will simply wait for her for a while. She told us to explore the school campus and become acquainted with every corner of the campus while we waited for our assigned classroom.

After roaming around, the Teacher in Charge assigned us to various classrooms. On the second floor of the building, I was assigned to the Grade 10 of section Discipline. Sir Ed Ian Daasin, the section's class adviser, was my co-teacher for the first week. I struggled to maintain my composure while I waited for him because I was a little anxious about how I would introduce myself to him, but I had no choice, HAHA! however, continue to fight. I waited outside the classroom for hardly more than twenty minutes and started to observe the students inside and the surroundings. Some students approached me and wanted to let me in and sit inside because they already knew I was going to observe the classroom, but I told them that I needed to approach their teacher first.

And this is the classroom where I am supposed to observe, Grade 10 Discipline

AND HERE I AM... 😃

I introduced myself and approached the adviser to sit in his class for one week of my FS1 observation, and he welcomed me with a small smile despite his strict demeanor. He accommodated me and told the students in the back to give me a seat. When I sat down, I grabbed my daily record book to begin observing the various abilities of the students and the teacher's instructional methods.

My CT's first subject was Science, which took up two hours of the class period. I noticed that there is a class report and that the students use manila paper as a visual aid. Following each reporter's discussion of the topic, the teacher provides additional explanations and questions to the students. Because the students are attentive and responsive, I noticed how the teacher managed the classroom during the flow of the discussion.

My CT for 1st whole week of observation, Mr. Ed Daasin, and the students of the Grade 10 section Discipline. Before the class started, I ask Sir Ed if it was okay to take a snap photo while he was in class and he nodded.

I like the moment how they took care of me on my first day with them. I was astounded by what the students showed me, and they kept asking how my observations of them were going.

After the first subject, I need to go outside the classroom before the next teacher will arrive. Since this is my first day, I have to approach every teacher and inform them that I will observe their classes before entering the classroom, as a sign of respect.

COME TO SCHOL AS EARLY AS YOU CAN
